Position Summary: 

The NFLC is looking to hire a full-time VMware Systems Administrator for a 9 month contract, with potential for long term or permanent placement. The VMware System Administrator will primarily focus on administering, maintaining, and upgrading a multi-site environment including the NFLC’s Microsoft Servers and VMware Virtualized architecture.  The incumbent will also provide tier2 support to level 1 engineers for various issue related to server administration and virtualization.  This is a hands-on position requiring independence, tact, accountability, and excellent decision making and technical delivery skills.  Success in this position requires extensive technical knowledge, the ability to work independently as well as part of a highly qualified team, and exceptional communications and collaborative skills.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Hands on in-depth experience administering, supporting, securing, and maintaining a multi-site Microsoft server infrastructure.
  • Proven experience installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and upgrading Microsoft Windows systems including Active Directory, SQL servers, IIS servers, and File and Print servers.
  • Perform typical systems administration tasks of all VMware based virtualized systems like deployment, installation, configuration, support, maintenance and administration of hardware and operating systems
  • Ability to solve technical, managerial or operational problems and evaluate options based on relevant information, resources, well-rounded experience, and knowledge
  • Strong knowledge and troubleshooting skills related to Windows & VMware platforms
  • Familiar with Firewalls, switches, routers, and basic network troubleshooting.
  • Strong analytical and creative problem solving skills for design, creation and testing of complex systems.
  • Strong organization skills to prioritize work, balance and lead complex projects.
  • Ability to respond effectively and timely to staff needs.
  • Ability to communicate with internal users at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills

Job Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred or 5+ years equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered.
  • Relevant real-world experience implementing and maintaining a VMware VDI and VSphere Clusters.
  • Previous experience in a Windows\VMware environment;
  • Experience in VMware Infrastructure Provisioning, Configuration and Administration
  • Experience in Microsoft Server, Exchange, Lync/Skype for Business and SharePoint
  • Experience in VMware Infrastructure Provisioning, Configuration and Administration
  • Experience in Microsoft Server, Exchange, Lync/Skype for Business and SharePoint
  • Experience with Storage SAN’s preferably Netapp and Dell Compellent
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup systems
