Research Coordinator (Finance)

Position Summary: 


- Provide financial support to large sponsored contracts
- Develop a clear and thorough understanding of the sponsors’ expectations, project budget, forecasting needs, and contract compliance
- Work with project managers to develop, implement, monitor, and track essential project financial activities and data
- Provide all needed data collection for accounts to provide actual and forecasting data output
- Monitor the project budget, expenditures, billing and receivables
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and prepare budget performances reports
- Oversee the procurement of all goods and services for projects
- Oversee consultant, subcontract and vendor agreements and payments
- Manage procurement card expenses and reconciles them on a monthly basis
- Reviews the Finance Assistant’s procurement card expenses
- Engage and complete tasks for project-specific requests
- Work with project managers to ensure that tasks are completed and KFS encumbrances liquidated during project closeout period
- Serve as the point of contact for the Center’s increased delegated procurement authority and ensures that the Center follows all appropriate policies and procedures that relate to that privilege
- Oversee project-specific travel arrangements
- Manage travel card expenses and reconcile them on a monthly basis
- Review the Finance Assistant’s travel card expenses
- Supervise and train projects’ Finance Assistants

Experience & Education:

- Bachelor’s degree
- 2-3 years’ experience with sponsored funding, including budgeting, accounting, and purchasing
- Ability to multi-task, meet tight deadlines, and work well under pressure
- Expertise in MS Office Word and Excel


- Experience with University of Maryland systems (KFS, BA4, PHR, ELF)
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field
- Experience with project budget management
