Introduction to Passage Rating

Assigning a rating to reading and listening passages is a crucial step in effective language training, testing, and assessment. Introduction to Passage Rating is a distance learning course offering over 20 hours of instruction on how to assign levels to passages according to criteria established by the Interagency Language Roundtable.

Introduction to Passage Rating incorporates the knowledge and best practices of leading government and academic experts. It presents over 100 sample passages to illustrate an approach based on text modes, ILR skill level descriptions, and language features for reading and listening. The course includes printable job aids, reference documents, worksheets, and expert annotations of passages.
